At the annual luncheon for Superior Almond Hulling, Ken Schmidt was on hand to discuss groundwater overdrafts and aquifer management. Mr. Schmidt is a well known authority on subsurface geology and hydrography, and is the principal of Kenneth D. Schmidt and Associates, a groundwater consulting firm in Fresno, CA. In his discussion he addressed current and historical water levels and groundwater flows in the central valley, water budgeting for groundwater, irrigation efficiencies, and sustainable groundwater pumping practices.
